Our community is a prime viewing spot! We are working to prepare to provide the best emergency fire, medical, and rescue response that we can for our community in the wake of this once in a lifetime event. To do so, we need to know where the population of travelers/visitors will be settling down for their eclipse experience. Please help us help you by clicking on the link below and providing us with some very minor details so we can be there for you as quickly as we possibly can to provide services on your property should someone need to call 911!
70 West Fire Protection Association 2900 Airport Road Hot Springs, AR 71913 us
We have been an active part of the planning process for the last couple of years since we learned that this event was coming to our area. We do not want to incite any fear, we want all of our local citizens and our traveling visitors to have an enjoyable experience and be prepared for what a sudden impactful population increase can bring in the way of some of our normal routines.
Planning where this population is going to settle will help us plan staffing and staging of emergency resources to make sure that we have as little as possible of an impact to any emergency responses that may arise. We predict the biggest challenge will be traffic! Many locals already know the struggles with the daily traffic flows on Airport Road/Highway 70 West on workdays starting between 4:00-5:00PM.
With the expectation of possibly doubling or tripling our population for a few days, we can expect to see extensive travel delays especially on the day of. This is the reason that all of the local School Districts including Lake Hamilton School District will be CLOSED. This kind of traffic will impact emergency response and we hope to provide details here on our Eclipse Web as well as links to other local agencies pages to share various information on these impacts, and safety messages to help you be prepared.
